Tired of keeping weed in plastic baggie and having the smell constantly leak out?
There are many smell proof bags that are MUCH better than typical ziplock plastic baggies.
As more and more states are legalizing marijuana both recreationally and medicinally, more people are looking for the best place to store their marijuana. You could always opt for a smell proof container (click here for our article on the 11 best smell proof containers) but there are some benefits that smell proof bags have over containers.
Before we hop into our list of the best smell proof bags, we first need to clear up the two types of bags that we are going to be covering:
- smell proof baggies
- These are just like your typical Ziplock baggies. They usually come in packs of multiple bags and are good if you plan on having a lot of different strains
- smell proof bags
- These are slightly larger bags, typically lined with activated carbon to keep smells in, that allow you to fit more than just weed inside. They are great for storing other accessories such as your pipes, lighters, grinder, etc.
Both types of bags are great for different purposes.
We here at Loud Daily have lots of experience in the marijuana industry, and keeping our smells locked away from unwanted attention. Below I have a table that features the three best smell proof bags on the market. If none of those options are appealing to you, no worries, we have more options further down as well as in-depth reviews of each bag.
Below will feature reviews of each bag, including pros and cons to help you decide which of these smell proof bags is best for you.
#1 Discreet Smoker (The Best Smell Proof Bag)
The Discreet Smoker is definitely the best smell proof bag on the market. Lined with activated carbon, this bag will eliminate any smells before they have a chance to leak.
This bag features a double velcro seal to ensure it is completely closed at all times. It measures about 11×9 in so its the perfect size for storing more than just your weed, but not too big to where its hard to take on the go.
Personally, I keep my grinder, bowl, lighter, and extra weed all in this one baggie and it works great.
The Discreet Smoker smell proof bag also claims to be “dog proof” meaning it won’t be detected by K9 dog searches. I have never been searched by dogs, so I cannot attest to how accurate that is.
Pros: 100% smell proof, great size for fitting more than just weed, and solid material that will last you a long time.
Cons: I’m not a huge fan of the goofy logo, but if that is the only con I can think of, this bag must be pretty good.

#2 Interplanetary Baggies (The Best Smell Proof Baggies)
Interplanetary Baggies lead the market when it comes to smell proof baggies. As we talked about at the beginning of the article, these baggies serve a slightly different purpose than the bag above.
These baggies come in a set of 25, giving you plenty of storage space. With that being said, they only measure 4×6 in so you can’t fit a ton of weed in each one. If you are looking for a place to store your entire stash, I highly recommend the bag above, but if you are looking to store a few grams of 3-4+ strains these are a great option for you.
These baggies are also good for sharing weed with friends. Another great use case is if you are going somewhere to smoke outdoors, you can put a few grams in one of these baggies, throw it in your pockets, and you are good to go. No smells will leak and you don’t need to carry any kind of bag or backpack around with you.
Pros: Completely smell proof. They come in a set of 25 and are great for on the go use.
Cons: Can’t fit too much weed inside one bag.

The Skunk Sidekick is another solid smell proof bag. It features a combination lock on the side to keep unwanted eyes from peeking into your stash.
The Sidekick features a divider on the inside that allows you to better organize your stash and accessories. Similar to the bag featured at the top of this article, the interior is lined with activated carbon that will absorb all the smells.
This bag also has a velcro seal inside the zipper so even if it is not zipped all the way, no odor should leak out. This is all around one of the best smell proof bags, but comes in at a pretty steep price for what it is.
Pros: Great smell proof bag with a convenient pad lock. Good size and pretty durable.
Cons: Pricey for what it is.View on Amazon
#4 HG Baggies
The Herb Guard smell proof baggies are pretty similar to the Interplanetary bags listed at number two on this list. They are smell proof and come in a pack of 25 just like the above ones.
Their dimensions are 4×6 in and work very similarly. At the time of writing, they are slightly more expensive with no real added value, moving them down to number 4 on this list.
Overall, these baggies work great and I have no complaints. The main reason I can think of buying these over the Interplanetary is if you like the color/logo better.
Pros: Quality smell proof baggies.
Cons: There are cheaper alternatives with very similar, if not the same functionality as these.View on Amazon
The Funk Fighter bag is pretty small smell proof bag. It is more similar in size to the smell proof baggies on this list than it is the other smell proof bags.
One nice thing about the Funk Fighter bag is that is padded very well. This makes it ideal for storing a glass pipe, bubbler, or chillum.
Lined with activated carbon, this bag does a pretty good job of keep the odors locked inside.
Pros: Good price and solid padding, making it a good bag for storing breakable items.
Cons: Small and not quite 100% smell proof like the other bags on this list.View on Amazon
The Funk Fighter backpack is another great option for storing your stash. Similar to other bags on this list, this backpack is lined with activated carbon. It features two main compartments that are smell proof.
The bag also features mesh side pockets that are obviously not smell proof, that are perfect to bring your drink of choice along with you to fight off the cotton mouth while smoking.
Backpacks are a lot bulkier to carry around with you every time you want to smoke, but they can provide some benefits. First off, you can store many more thing inside of one. This is great if you plan on storing a bong or other large piece. Bongs can start to create quite a bit of smell if they are not cleaned regularly, making this smell proof backpack a great option if you want to take yours on the go.
Pros: Lots of storage room. You can practically store everything you need to smoke in one bag.
Cons: Bulky and annoying to always carry around.View on Amazon
So what is the best smell proof bag?
Well, it depends.
First you have decide if you would be better off with a smell proof bag or a smell proof baggie. Both have a lot of pros and cons but as far as keeping your smells locked in, either works great especially if you grab number 1 or 2 on our list above.
Personally, I think the double whammy works the best. Pick up the number 1 AND 2 on the list above. Divide your different strains into the baggies, and then put them all in your smell proof bag. You should also have room to throw in a grinder, bowl, ligther and whatever else you need for your sesh. Now if you accidentally don’t close the zipper all the way, your smells will stay locked inside.
What factors did we use when ranking these smell proof bags?
There were a lot of factors we kept in mind when composing this list. The main factor was definitely how smell proof the bags are. The second most important factor was the durability of these bags.
We didn’t feature a bag on this list if it falls apart and stops containing smells after a few weeks of usage.
The third main factor we used was practicality. While a backpack is nice to have to store everything you need, it can get annoying having to lug it around with you every time you want to smoke.
